Compared with domestic delivery, international shipping involves additional risks due to customs inspections, aviation-security requirements, multiple transit points, and destination-country import regulations.

To help customers understand and reduce these risks, AJBuy has outlined the main issues that may occur during international transportation.

Customs authorities in both the country of origin and the destination country have the right to inspect and dispose of parcels in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. This may include seizing or destroying goods or transferring them to the relevant law-enforcement or regulatory authorities.

Customs inspections commonly focus on the following:

• Counterfeit or infringing products: Customs authorities may strictly inspect, seize, or destroy counterfeit goods and products that infringe intellectual-property rights.
• Prohibited or restricted goods: Batteries, powders, liquids, precious metals, and other restricted products may be prohibited from export or import and may not pass customs inspection.
• Incorrect declarations: Certain products may require additional inspections, certificates, or import documentation. If a parcel's contents, quantity, description, or value are declared incorrectly, customs may delay, return, seize, or destroy the shipment. Fines or other penalties may also apply in serious cases.

Customers are responsible for confirming that their purchases comply with the laws and customs requirements of the destination country.

All air shipments are subject to aviation-security inspections.

Products that are flammable, explosive, corrosive, pressurized, magnetic, capable of interfering with aircraft signals, or otherwise considered dangerous may be rejected.

Counterfeit, defective, incorrectly declared, or suspicious products may also fail the security inspection. Parcels that do not pass may be delayed, returned, confiscated, or destroyed in accordance with the carrier's rules and applicable regulations.

International parcels may pass through several airports, warehouses, sorting centers, customs facilities, and logistics providers before reaching their destination.

The following problems may occur during transit:

• Loss or misrouting of parcels
• Delivery delays caused by weather, customs, transportation disruptions, or other uncontrollable events
• Damage resulting from repeated handling or sorting
• Damage to the product or its outer packaging
• Opening or repackaging during customs or security inspections
• Missing, delayed, or incomplete tracking updates

AJBuy will provide reasonable assistance when a shipping problem occurs. However, compensation remains subject to the selected shipping route, insurance coverage, carrier rules, and investigation results.

Customs-clearance problems are more common in countries with strict import regulations or high duties and taxes.

Common issues include:

• The recipient refusing or failing to complete customs clearance
• Unpaid import duties, taxes, or handling fees
• Products restricted or prohibited by the destination country
• Counterfeit or infringing products being seized
• The declared value or description not matching the parcel's contents
• Missing permits, certificates, invoices, or identification documents
• Parcels being returned, abandoned, confiscated, or destroyed

The recipient is responsible for completing customs clearance, providing the required documents, and paying all applicable duties, taxes, penalties, storage fees, return charges, and other expenses.
